"Robbie, Don't Sing at the Dinner Table...!"

When I was a kid, I sang at the dinner table.  I didn't realize this.  My Dad would say, "Robbie, don't sing at the dinner table...!"  So I'd stop.  For about 30 seconds.  Then I'd start humming.  I didn't realize that either.

Now, guess what?  My kids sing at the dinner table!  I haven't decided if should "shush" them...

Still, you'll often hear my wife Kathleen and me saying, "JULI!  Less Shrek the Musical and more homework, please!"

So it got me thinking...where CAN a kid bust out and sing?!  Not at the dinner table...Not in the grocery store...Not in their classroom...Not in a restaurant...

Ding-ding-ding!  AT KIDS' CHURCH!!  If you're not letting kids (especially BOYS) sing, cheer, grunt, holler, and GET LOUD, you're denying them that ONE CHANCE in the ONE PLACE where they won't get flak for being loud kids!

My daughter always sang at the dinner table. And everywhere else too. She later went into master commission and on to Belmont college.Where she finally received a degree in Music Business. at Belmont they actually encourage singing at the dinner table and did a great flash mob video to advertise their musical Les miserables. charity is married now to a professional drummer. She is a wedding singer and only performs 3 nights a week. at least it pays the rent. I say let them sing!! And dance!!! I grew up dancing and I love the motions you do with all the songs. My husband is now a senior pastor but we still love children's ministry and don't want to grow up!!Many people want a younger praise and worship team. Under 40 . But I say if you can still dance at the age of 56 then do it!!! And I do very Sunday!!!
