I Used to Have Cancer!

Every day, when I take my "used to have cancer" meds, I'm reminded that I used to have cancer! (CML Leukemia)  My doctor says it's basically gone, but it'll come back if I don't take a super-expensive little white pill every day.  (I know, I know - you think it's a big pharmaceutical company CONSPIRACY...!)  For now, I'm just grateful that I'm in remission!

There are some side effects of the medication, so sometimes I quietly wish I could "time travel" back a few years.  But other times I think "Man!  I've got to stay in pretty-good physical condition so I can dance and sing with kids and families!"

On the other side, the Bible warns us not to become fitness fanatics: "For physical training is of some value, but godliness has value for all things, holding promise for both the present life and the life to come."

What's your motivation for staying in pretty-good physical shape?  Do you remember that your body is God's? (1 Cor. 7:23)

Rob, I too am a stage 4 Lung cancer patien survivor and take two pills a day to remain one of Gods miracles. Thank you for your love of family, Kids and our savior. We met you at Revival and have enjoyed you music even now our kids are teen and twenty somethings. God Bless.

Praise God for giving man the mind to come up with the meds - and they are working for you! Our family is SO thankful to God for your family! Your music speaks SO much of God's Truth into our lives! As for exercise, Brian surfs and I run - we do want to take care of God's Temple:) We love you guys!!!

ooooo...such a good point. What you said hit straight home for me since i used to dance quite a lot and consumed my life...it became like an idol to me...not good!!! It consumed my heart, mind and body. I have to be careful not to let myself become "fanatical" about exercise and let that passion take the place of my Heavenly Father. Have to keep my heavenly priorities in check. : ) This blog was just what i needed to hear as i am finding myself back into the health arena. Love when the Lord knows how to reach us... He is sooo timely : )

A great reminder, Rob! Thanks. Balance is important in life (and in fitness, too--haha). I am motivated to stay in pretty good shape by several things: (1) My fitness time is also a powerful worship time for me--I sing along to Christian music (many are YOUR songs) and smile at and greet everyone I meet along my way. It's easy to praise our God when walking under His big sky! (2) It gives me a great attitude for the day. (3) I also memorize scripture and pray during my workouts. My health is a gift from Him which I appreciate every day. (4) Age is a merciless foe, and I cannot be a very good messenger/servant for the Lord when I'm planted on the couch! ;) I thank God for who you are. "Is Everybody Ready to Go..."

Great blog Mr. Biagi!!! Though as a teen I don't really do as much as I should, not because I'm lazy, but because I don't want to be a physical fanatic. If you can please pray for me, because I'm going to be a husband/father one day and want to be working, as my physical exercise, but don't want to be lazy too. I'm so thankful that God has put you in my life to show me these kind of blogs!!! Thanks :)
